Sarah Palin: A Pre-Modern Reactionary Feminist

In the strange world of fascism any idea can be morphed toward the purposes of the reactionary capitalists and their blind true believers. Sarah Palin, we are told, is a “cause for women” to rally around. The problem is she is a negation to all feminist issues, being a extremist par excellence. So far the corporate media is only lightly criticizing her, not exposing what a dangerous fraud (a pure public relations creation) she is. Goerge Lakoff reminds us that:

http://www.alternet.org/election08/97193/the_palin_choice%3A_the_reality_of_voters%27_minds/

“she is inexperienced, knowing little or nothing about foreign policy or national issues; she is really an anti-feminist, wanting the government to enter women's lives to block abortion, but not wanting the government to guarantee equal pay for equal work, or provide adequate child health coverage, or child care, or early childhood education; she shills for the oil and gas industry on drilling; she denies the scientific truths of global warming and evolution; she misuses her political authority; she opposes sex education and her daughter is pregnant; and, rather than being a maverick, she is on the whole a radical right-wing ideologue.”

Lakoff is right. Sarah Palin has a pre-modern ideology. There is no notion of science and reason behind those beady little eyes of hers. The GOP is betting that US voters are shallow enough not to notice that this pre-modern woman could end up governing the USA (yes, not PTA....USA).

Think about this; Sarah Palin belongs to the Assembly of God Church whose doctrine includes biblical inerrancy. This means she believes the bible is literally true to the word. To Palin, the Earth is 5000 years old. Creation began and was completed in 6 days, not a continuous process dating back 12-15 billion years. Palin literally believes Jesus is coming down from heaven to save her and her born again friends because they are special, better than us mere mortals (hell why not press the nuclear red button and expedite Jesus' return?).

Plain believes The Earth was given to humans to dominate and exploit (she has no notion of ecology whatsoever). Palin cites the success of the Endangered Species Act in bringing back their numbers as a reason to deny polar bears ESA protection (nice logic huh?)

Sex education should be taken out of public schools because all knowledge of sex is immoral (this stance did her daughter well, obviously). She is against abortion, even in cases of rape (to those with daughters, imagine this…she would happily sign legislation forcing the state to require your daughter to endure months of emotional and physical pain to bear the child of the man (men) who raped her…this is among the darkest forms of patriarchy).

On top of all that, she is already engulfed in investigations dealing with her use of power to achieve personal ends, namely having the top cop in Alaska fired because he wouldn’t fire her ex-brother in law, a state trooper.

Sarah Palin is a pre-modern reactionary extremist. The GOP is explicitly telling all of us that we are too stupid for issues. They are betting on it. The GOP says “Hot Hockey Moms” who know how to handle assault rifles will trump issues like the off-shoring of jobs, regressive taxation, disastrous wars, the housing crisis, public and private debt, and health care...anyday. They are openly saying we are sheep.

They may be right. This might work.

Another story about Palin that is largely underreported (what? really?) is that her husband Todd sits in on meetings and has been copied on documents and e-mails that Sarah has claimed are privileged.

There is currently FOIA suit (or whatever the state-level term is) for some of these documents because Todd Palin is a private citizen who has no right to executive privilege.

I'll go find the link....

The e-mails will be easily defensible but if he sat in on closed meetings that's another issue. The biggest issue here though is troopergate and the evidence supporting it.
But you know the rethugs are doing it again. They have the focus on their den of thieves and not the real issues we face. Let's step back and start ignoring them they're just a bad distraction. Let us push on with Obama and the agenda. That's what's important.

Palin is exactly the kind of woman the rightwingers love. She's will to suppress other women to gain admission to the Old Boy's Club.

This woman should not be allowed to become VP - it's too risky - McCain ain't young and has been through a lot. If something were to happen to him, we are stuck with Palin. If we thought the last 8 years were bad, I can't imagine what the next 4 would be like under her.

"To Palin, the Earth is 5000 years old."

I find this amazing because she knows all about the natural resources of Alaska (a "refuge state" for the "end of times" according to her pastor) one of which is oil.

Maybe she does't know how long it takes to make oil, or what it's made of?

Excellent post. This is a real test of the country. Can the majority of voters be suckered by this con game of nominating a wingnut woman for VP? I wish I were sure of the answer.
