This was 38 years ago today:

Side story: I grew up in a household without a television until the lunar mission. My father thought TV to be a waste of time. But when Apollo 11 launched, dad decided that we needed to watch so he went out and bought a TV. This scene was that important.

To this day I rarely watch TV.

Let me tell you you aren't missing anything. It's gotten to the point where I only watch fix it shows and maybe a movie. The rest is garbage.

My earliest memory is watching television during this mission. I was three.

I know now that I did not watch the landing, because my mom tells about how she and dad were with his sisters and their spouses watching, sort of. She said she was glued to the television and the rest were sort of like, meh.

But I remember being in our rec room (ah, the sixties)watching the men on the moon.
